My puppy's losing baby teeth. Is it normal for him to swallow them?

Swallowing her baby teeth should not cause her any problems. Often these teeth end up falling out when they are outdoors chewing on things and we never find them, but we do not have cases of dogs becoming ill or being injured from the loss of their baby teeth or these small teeth being swallowed.

You are right that most puppies will swallow their puppy teeth when they become loose. As this process is occurring the gums may be more sensitive and you could see a little blood discharge on toys if they are harder. If he likes the kong it is fine for him to chew on it. If Simba is a kitten, it is normal to lose the baby teeth while the adult teeth grow in. If Simba is an adult cat and this was an adult tooth, it is best to have him examined by a vet to rule out health issues causing tooth loss.

This looks like a baby tooth. It is around this time that Butterscotch's baby teeth will be falling out so his adult teeth can come in. Usually the puppy swallows the tooth that falls out, but you can find them as well. This is normal.

My own puppy lost 8 teeth in one night! As they lose teeth, they may bleed a little bit, so do not be alarmed if you see a little bit of blood on anything they chew. It will resolve pretty quickly. Great question! Ellie's tooth should fall out on its own, as she is teething and her adult teeth will be coming in soon. You might not even see the tooth fall out, as puppies often swallow their baby teeth when they fall out. Best of luck, I hope that helps!

This is completely normal and right on schedule. These are the first teeth to fall out. Adult teeth will appear in those spots soon. The teething process takes about 6-10 weeks total. Most of the time, the teeth just seem to disappear....puppies swallow them or they end up in the grass outside, etc. Usually the last teeth to fall out are the canine or “fang” teeth.
