Is it normal for my puppy's wiggly tooth to fall out when teething?

I hate to hear Ellie is giving you a scare! At her age it could be either. Save the tooth and take it into your vet's office. You can usually tell by looking at it. When in doubt, you could also make an appointment and bring Ellie with you so they can look in her mouth which may help to know if it is an adult tooth it. Hopefully it's just a baby tooth! This is completely normal and right on schedule. These are the first teeth to fall out. Adult teeth will appear in those spots soon. The teething process takes about 6-10 weeks total. Most of the time, the teeth just seem to disappear....puppies swallow them or they end up in the grass outside, etc. Usually the last teeth to fall out are the canine or “fang” teeth. I think this looks like a baby canine tooth, which would normally be falling out around this age. Usually the adult tooth is already partially growing in, so if you truly feel like this may have been an adult tooth you may want your vet to take a look.

The roots of the baby teeth begin to resorb between 2and 3 months of age. This results in loosening teeth that start to fall out shortly after. Once a tooth is loose, it can take several days to fall out or be knocked out (during play or eating). By 6-8 months of age, all the baby teeth should definitely be out, replaced by adult teeth.

This looks like a baby tooth. It is around this time that Butterscotch's baby teeth will be falling out so his adult teeth can come in. Usually the puppy swallows the tooth that falls out, but you can find them as well. This is normal.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the baby tooth that was knocked out came out intact, meaning the entire root is present then he should be fine. If the tooth was broken then it could abscess or affect the adult tooth. The loose one will fall out on its own as that is the normal progression. If you are planning to neuter him you can do it sooner and have the vet X-ray the broken tooth and remove it while he’s under. I hope this helps!

The 2 front and center are adult teeth and the ones next to then are baby teeth that are meant to fall out. If she is eating and drinking normally and still playful I would not worry about the injury causing it as this is the right age for it to occur anyways. Her guns look healthy so you are unlikely to notice any problems if it was caused by the fall
