My puppy has soft stool. Should I switch her to Taste of the Wild?

Poor Addison! This could be caused by several things from large water intake, parasites, or even her dog food. Blue buffalo can actually be too rich for some dogs. I have also seen other complications from eating blue buffalo like bladder crystals and bladder stones. You some consider switching her to something With less protein like science diet, Royal canin, or Iams. If you want a food with a more “natural” approach, natural balance is also a good choice. When you switch her, I would slowly mix in the new food and gradually transition her over a 10 to 14 day period. Also, I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will be able to do a fecal to check for worms. I would make sure they also check for giardia and campylobacter as these are parasites/bacteria that commonly can cause similar issues but are difficult to diagnose. Lastly, i would get her started on some probiotics. I like ones made by vetriscience and Thorne. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! How frustrating! I think that Nova is allergic to the dog food. I would change brands or meat protein. Animals can develop GI or skin allergies to their food at anytime. Be sure that you have had a fecal tested for parasites and he has been dewormed well. Since he is young parasites are high on the list and I still deworm them even if the stool sample is negative. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Taste of the Wild is a good food to try but it is impossible to predict how BeBe will handle it. An ideal food allows for a healthy skin/coat, good weight, normal stools and no vomiting. It is a reasonable diet to try. Good luck!

I would recommend bringing Dakota to a veterinarian. Typically, I would recommend boiled chicken and white rice but due to her age I would recommend having a veterinarian make sure there are no intestinal parasites and that the diarrhea is just from the stress and diet change. It is most likely due to the food change. Puppies can also have intestinal parasites, so it is always recommended to have a stool sample checked on Kylo. Your veterinarian can also give medication to help resolve the stool quicker and easier. They also can dispense a bland diet to help resolve it. It sounds as if Ali may be dealing with a dietary sensitivity / indiscretion from the food she is on. About 65% of the time in cases of vomiting / diarrhea in dogs that are otherwise acting normal, the diet is the cause or an imbalance of the normal bacteria in the intestines. I would recommend transitioning to a completely different food altogether such as Science Diet, Royal Canin, Purina One or Natural Balance and feed this new diet for at least 4-6 weeks. If the diarrhea does not resolve after trying 2 - 3 different foods, I would have Ali examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry to hear Rusty isn't feeling well. I recommend taking Rusty to the vet with a fresh stool sample. There is a possibility he has microscopic intestinal parasites. This is common in puppies and causes diarrhea. I would not change his food as that is likely to make the loose stool worse. There is no deworming medicine that treats all parasites so even if he has been dewormed, it doesn't mean there isn't something there. Good luck and kisses to Rusty!
