My puppy has soft green stool after food change. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 2 months and 19 days old | 54 lbs

My 11 week old golden retriever puppy’s stool is soft and green. For the most part it can still be picked up, but she has had some diarrhea like bowel movements. I noticed the change more so since we switched her to a different dog food, Nutro for puppies. Ive already began switching her back to the first bag we had her on, Instinct for puppies. She eats a lot of grass and likes to chew on sticks and she is not fully vaccinated yet. Is it just her food, or is something seriously wrong?

It is most likely due to the food change. Puppies can also have intestinal parasites, so it is always recommended to have a stool sample checked on Kylo. Your veterinarian can also give medication to help resolve the stool quicker and easier. They also can dispense a bland diet to help resolve it. Then you can gradually transfer her back onto the food she did well with.

    Hello. Then, I would not be too worried. A new home & a new diet can mess up the gut for a few days to a week. As long as Pepper is eating & feeling well, she will be fine, but do get her to your veterinarian as soon as possible foe a wellness check. I would recommend bringing Dakota to a veterinarian. Typically, I would recommend boiled chicken and white rice but due to her age I would recommend having a veterinarian make sure there are no intestinal parasites and that the diarrhea is just from the stress and diet change. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would consider using a different diet. Jacki may be sensitive to that diet. I would recommend you consider any of the Royal canin, Purina or Science Diet puppy foods which would be great options for her. If you ever notice her stools being black, have her evaluated by a veterinarian as sometimes that is seen with gastrointestinal bleeding. Good luck!

Why is my puppy's poop dark, soft, and grey after new food?
Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Personally the color doesn't bother me but the consistency does. That is diarrhea. It is too soft and not formed. I would go back to the Royal Canin food as it sounds like he digests that one better. Be sure though that he has had his stool tested for intestinal parasites and is up to date on his DHPP vaccines. My 5-week-old puppy has green and brown poop. What can I do at home?
At five weeks you can start transitioning to a puppy food that is moistened with some KMR or other replacer milk, or look for puppy mousse (Royal Canin and a few other companies carry it) that is designed for transition from milk to solid foods. Otherwise, keeping him eating and drinking can also help, as can testing for parasites or other illness and deworming if the stool does not return to normal.

Did anyone feed him anything other than his puppy food? If so he may have an upset stomach. He can also have one if he has intestinal parasites or a virus. Hi ! Sorry to hear that Stell is not well. If she is still bright and eating well, she might have a bit of an upset tummy. You can try her on a bland diet of white meat and rice or Hill’ s gastro-intestinal formula for a couple of days, and some probiotics such as Canikur or Protekin Prokolin and see if things settle over the next 3-4 days. If she should still pass soft feaces then it’s best you bring in a feacal sample to your vet to be examined for parasites and bacteria.

Is green poop normal for an orphaned puppy on milk replacer?
It could be due to the change in diet. If he otherwise seems fine than continue with the milk replacer and monitor him. Have him examined by a vet if you have any concerns. He will need to be dewormed with a broad spectrum dewormer and vaccinated once he is old enough.
