My dog is sneezing with warm nose/ear, eating. Could it be allergies?

I'm sorry Maisy isn't feeling well at the moment. Don't worry about the temperature of her nose, as it's not considered a sign of illness in dogs. That's because a dog's nose can change from cold to warm just by sitting next to a heat source or lying in the sun. The sneezing could be caused by a respiratory infection or allergies. I would monitor Maisy for now, and should the sneezing continue over the next 24-48 hours, she become lethargic, her appetite diminishes, and/or she develops other signs, I would have her seen by a vet.

If things don’t improve to seem to be bothering Remus your vet can prescribe some antihistamines to try or even some allergy medications. If he's acting fairly normal otherwise (eating and drinking fine, active, etc.) you could opt to monitor him for now and see how things go for the next few days. The problem may resolve on its own, similar to when we get a minor cold or allergy flare-up. If there is no improvement in the next 2-3 days, or if your pup develops other symptoms such as coughing, thick green or yellow nasal discharge, or begins acting very lethargic or not eating, then I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian for treatment.

Frequent sneezes can be caused by many things. If he s having an occasional couple of sneezes throughout the day he could have a minor inhaled allergy. If he is having more little fits of snorting sneezes these could be reverse sneezes - also often caused by inhaled allergens. If either of these are the case and the sneezes become more frequent you could contact your veterinarian for an antihistamine dose. If it is just occasional I wouldn't worry about it too much and I would just monitor. If Sanza is having fits of violent sneezes, he could have inhaled plant material or a foxtail that may be stuck in the nose. If this is the case I would have him evaluated by his veterinarian as soon as possible. If the sneezing progresses to nasal discharge or coughing he may have an upper respiratory infection.
