When can my puppy sleep in a bed instead of a crate? Age or no accidents?

I would crate him at night since you cannot watch him and he is so young. Once you know that you can completely trust him (potty and getting into stuff) then I would say you can let him out of the carte and sleep with you. I would not let her sleep in the bed until she can get herself down if needed. A lot of puppies get injured by being in the bed too young as they try to jump off and break a leg or fall off on accident for being clumsy. It is safest for her to stay in a kennel. As far as potty training goes, once she no longer has accidents in the house and tells you when she needs to go outside both at night and in the day, then she can be trusted to sleep in the bed without having an accident. Most are trained by 4 months of age

This will really depend on the individual dog some dogs at young age are potty trained and well behaved and some dogs never get to that point. My first dog stayed in carate for 6 months and my second stayed for 6 years. It is all based on the training and how you all want to train/manage the dogs.

Crate training is related to house breaking. If your puppy is not having accidents in the house, then that's a good sign BUT I will mention that most puppies are not reliably house trained until 6 months of age minimum. You may try increasing how much he likes the crate by feeding him in the crate, throwing a treat in the crate to get Keela to enter the crate on his own or having a special treat or toy that he only gets in the crate. Yes, that should be fine if you have Cosmo in a crate at night. If he cries then please take him out so he doesn't go in the crate. In another few weeks he will not have a problem going through the night. Usually puppies are not fully housebroken until they are four months old so be patient. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Beds are fine in crates as long as they are not chewed up and/or pieces aren’t swallowed that would cause an obstruction. If Jasper chews the bed then he shouldn’t have a bed in his crate. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes, personally I think you can. That is part of training. As long as you can sleep that is what I would do if he was mine. But since he is only 6 weeks old he may not be able to hold it all night. So set your alarm to get up twice overnight to take him out and to check on him. If he starts chewing up the blankets or pee pads then you will have to take them out. Part of house training is getting up overnight until they can hold it that long. Most people remove the water before bedtime to prevent urinating overnight. I wish you the best!
