My puppy is shaking and vomiting. Is this serious? What should I do?

My puppy is shaking, vomiting and NOT acting like herself. Is she sick? What should I do? Is it bad?

Yes, it sounds like Wonder is painful (shaking), and not herself due to the vomiting. She may also have a fever which could make her lethargic. She is a young dog so most likely she has a stomach upset from something she ate. If she can't hold anything down you should take her to your veterinarian for treatment. She could have eaten something bad, or have something caught in her stomach or intestines. They will do an exam then most likely blood work and an X-ray if needed to find the specific reason she is sick. Then they can prescribe the appropriate treatment. This is a fairly common reason dogs get sick and usually they improve quickly. This is very concerning. Your puppy could be suffering from a serious gastrointestinal infection such as parvo or, since she is also showing central nervous signs, she could be suffering from another viral disease such as distemper or liver disease. Please take her to your vet this morning or a petER for an exam. She will likely need iv fluids, pain medicine and antibiotics and medicine to keep her from vomiting.

Her vomiting has nothing to do with licking a tootsie roll. In puppies vomiting is usually either due to one of these things: parvo virus, internal parasites or intestinal obstruction. She needs to see a vet. She is shaking from pain and fear.

Poor Remi! The signs you are describing can be caused by a foreign body, intestinal parasites, or viral infection such as parvovirus - unfortunately, puppies are predisposed to all of these conditions. I recommend having Remi seen by a vet as soon as possible, especially because she may become dehydrated from vomiting and not eating. I think that Pluto needs to be seen by a veterinarian. There are quite a few things that can cause nausea and vomiting in such a young puppy. Parvo virus is one of the things and it can be life threatening. He could have intestinal parasites as well. The veterinarian can do an exam and some diagnostics to diagnose his problem. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian. I am concerned she is shaking after episodes of vomiting. You can take her temperature at home. Normal for a dog is 99-102.5. Unfortunately many things can cause vomiting like indigestion, foreign material, infections, pyometra, toxins and foreign objects. Since she is not feeling well a vet visit will help break down what is going on for proper treatment.

Hello. If this has been ongoing for several hours & she has vomited multiple times, then I would consider having Kreacher seen by your veterinarian tonight or as soon as possible tomorrow. The biggest concern is dehydration, so you can try to give her a couple of teaspoons of water or broth every hour or so. If she feels like drinking, but vomits afterwards, replace her water with ice cubes to lick on. Absolutely no food until tomorrow. She may be dehydrated from the vomiting and the shivering may not be due to her being cold but may be due to her not feeling well. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Why is my puppy trembling and vomiting? Should I go to the vet?

I agree with your concerns. This is not normal for a puppy, and I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian. Small puppies can have problems regulating their blood glucose levels and that may cause the trembling and nausea. Try to give her a snack every 3-4 hours if possible. Also, deworming and vaccinations are important at this age as well. Your veterinarian will complete a good physical examination on her and let you know if they have any other concerns. Puppy throwing up and shaking after flea meds, what to do at home?

However, if this continues, she should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Just like humans, pets can vomit for many many reasons. It can be something more minor like a bacterial infection or it could be something potentially fatal like parvovirus (if your puppy is not properly vaccinated) or an intestinal blockage. I recommend to play it safe and have Princeton examined by the veterinarian tonight. Puppies who don't eat may run the risk of having low blood sugar or dehydration. It's always best to play it safe.
