Why is my 4-month-old puppy shaking and trembling all over?

Usually small breed dogs require to be fed throughout the day every 6 hours or so. However, this could also be due to something else like a toxicity of some kind. Seizures can be detrimental to a dog's health and this warrants an evaluation as soon as possible by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!

I'm sorry to hear that your pup isn't doing well. I recommend taking him to an emergency clinic right away for evaluation. His blood sugar could be low, he could have a liver issue that is allowing toxins to build up in his system, he could have a congenital issue with his digestive tract, or something else entirely. I agree with your concerns. This is not normal for a puppy, and I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian. Small puppies can have problems regulating their blood glucose levels and that may cause the trembling and nausea. Try to give her a snack every 3-4 hours if possible. Also, deworming and vaccinations are important at this age as well. Your veterinarian will complete a good physical examination on her and let you know if they have any other concerns. My biggest concern in a very young puppy with the signs you described is that she has a low blood sugar. This can worsen to the point of seizures and can be fatal if not treated. If she will not eat, then I would recommend rubbing Karo syrup or maple syrup on her gums and taking her to a veterinarian immediately. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jace. I am concerned that he was experiencing an episode of low blood sugar. It is common in puppies as small as he is. If he is still acting so lethargic, I would recommend putting karo syrup (or maple syrup or honey) on his gums and he will need to see an emergency veterinarian. If he is back to normal now, monitor him closely and apply the syrup if you ever notice these signs in him again. Provide kibble for him at all times so that he never goes long between meals. Weakness and shaking can sometimes be a sign of nutrient/blood chemical problems, but shaking can also be a sign of nerves, cold, etc. If you do suspect an issue, bringing Sugar into the vet for an exam and blood work to check her values is best.
