My puppy has a red donut-shaped lump on his belly. What is it?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 9 months and 20 days old | 70 lbs

One small--1/4"--donut shaped, red place on belly of 10 mo. old beagle/hound mix. He's been on flea/tick and worm med since 2 months...interrupted in Dec due to holidays. The spot is puffy around, and depressed in the very center. Not causing pain apparently

Young dogs get benign tumors called histiocytomas. These usually grow quickly, but the immune system will typically resolve the problem within a month or so. However, if the lump is still there in a month or so then I would be a good idea to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
