Why does my puppy prefer sleeping on the cool floor over her bed?

It could be that the warmer temperature is affecting Bree's sleeping habits. She may not need the blanket if it's warmer than usual, and that's why she is laying on the floor. Since she is acting totally normal, I wouldn't be too worried about it. I hope this helps!

Many dogs get too hot in the night and want to sleep on the floor. Also if he's now bigger it may be crowded and he needs to stretch out. This is not a problem usually. Congratulations on your new dog! It is possible that Coco is feeling too warm for her comfort level and therefore prefers to sleep on the cooler floor. Some dogs just have this preference. The only time it can be concerning is in larger breed heavy dogs they can develop what is called a hygroma of the elbow where they develop a fluid filled pocket due to the pressure on the thin skin near the elbow. The humping behavior you describe shouldn't cause any issues with her legs/joints and can be common in young dogs. Sniffing or licking the floor after cleaning should not cause her issues but to be safe you can follow your cleanup with a wipe of a cloth in plain water to remove soapy residue. He isn’t mad at you, just sleepy which is normal for a puppy his age. He will play longer as he gets older. Putting him in the crate after he sleeps is perfect! Puppies generally sleep a lot, most days between 14-18 hours, this is quite normal but if you see other symptoms such as lethargy or lack of appetite then something might be wrong with Aira, in that case you should take her to the vet for a checkup.

They are too cute! This new behavior could be just that - a behavior change. However, it is a good idea to rule out systemic illness, especially after about age 6-7 when dogs are considered "senior". If the mass on her leg has not been evaluated and aspirated by a vet yet, it would be a good time to do that. Certain types of tumors can have systemic effects or spread to other areas of the body. Hopefully, they both have a clean bill of health, and this is just a subtle behavior change. Dogs do tend to prefer to lie on the floor when it is hot in the summertime. Best of luck!

Silly Yogi! :) This is actually very common - many puppies and also adult dogs like to sleep under things, as it makes them feel more secure. One of my dogs actually likes to sleep with his head under the couch and his body sticking out; he's 9 years old now, and has always done this. As long as Yogi is acting normal otherwise, this shouldn't be any cause for concern.
