My puppy pees inside after frequent trips. Crate training failed. Help!

Four months is a very young age still and one where I wouldn't expect Fendi to be completely potty trained. That said, she should still be able to hold it about an hour or two, and if she can't, then scheduling a vet visit to make sure there isn't a health issue related first is a good idea. If she checks out healthy, sticking to a strict potty training routine is best. This means going out every 1-2 hours, after waking, eating, drinking, playing, etc to give her opportunities to go outside. If she is pottying in her kennel, it may be too big for her (it should be just big enough to comfortably lay down and turn around in, but not so big she can potty on one side and lay on the other.) Blocking off the house so she has limited access and limited chance to have an accident can also help. H, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sadly if she is is going in the house she still isn't fully house trained. All rooms with doors should be closed and she needs to be gated to be kept in your site. Or she needs to be leashed to an adult until this behavior has stopped. The area she is soiling needs to be cleaned with an enzymatic pet cleaner, like Nature's Miracle. She needs to be take out frequently and verbally praised, as well as given treats, when she goes outside. Play with her for 5-10 mins. If she doesn't go outside she is crated or leashed to an adult until you take her out again. This training should go on for 3 months and she can have free reign of the house once there are no accidents for those 3 months. You can have her urine checked for crystals or infection by your Vet and consider having her spayed to see if that helps. I wish you the best!

The best way to train her is to not leave her outside. You will need to be with her all the time to watch when she goes and praise and reward her for going. When you let her out of her crate, take her out to go... when she does reward her. If she does not then she goes back into the kennel for a few minutes and back outside again. It is best to take her out every 30-60 minutes Until she gets the hang of it

Potty training issues like this can be very frustrating! The key is that you have to be very diligent, and more stubborn than your dog. Unfortunately, when it comes to potty training, going out 3 times a day isn't enough. If there is a way you can take her out more frequently, I would recommend it. Because if she doesn't go when you take her out, but she doesn't have access for another 6 or 8 hours, she is unlikely to hold it that long. You also need to make sure there is nowhere for Cardi to pee inside. This means she either needs to be picked up and carried inside (past where she normally pees), and stay on leash at your side at all times, or in a crate when unsupervised. The crate should be small enough that she can't get away from a pee spot, but big enough that she can stand and turn around. The other big thing is to get rid of the odor of urine inside. This means having the carpets cleaned, and in some cases rip up the carpet and pad underneath. As long as she smells the urine, she will recognize the area as an appropriate place to pee. Once a dog is trained to go inside, it can be a tough process to get them to go outside. The more you can give her opportunity to go outside the better. It might be a process best started over a weekend or a day you can be home. You have to give her frequent chances to do the right thing. Good luck!

She needs time. She is only 3 months and puppies are not trained at 3 months. I would be extremely consistent with the crate. It may seem like it isn't going to work but if given time to work it will. If she does not go when you take her outside (when you crate her) then you put her back in the crate for 20 minutes. Sadie is precious. First remember that she is still VERY young. At only 2 months old, there is still several weeks that she needs to learn. I usually expect puppies to sometimes take until they are 5-6 months old to be completely potty trained. If you aren't already, I would crate train her as this seems to be the quickest method. I will leave a link below with more details. If you are already doing this, you could try the potty pads to see if this helps and slowly move the pads closer and closer to the door. But most importantly be patient with her. You may want to work on crate training Kronos, or start taking him to a potty location more often. A puppy generally needs to go every 1-2 hours at Kronos' age, so you will want to have yourself or someone take him to the potty spot, make sure he goes, and then remove him from the area so he can't lay in it. He likely doesn't quite understand what is going on yet at such a young age.
