Why is my 4-month-old puppy still having accidents in her crate?

When potty training a puppy, there will be steps forward and step backwards. It can be expected the puppy will have accidents while they are being potty trained. I wouldn't let Charlie have any water before going into the crate, and you are doing the right thing by putting her outside before going in the crate and only leaving her for a maximum of 3.5 hours. It is very common for them to have a small relapse in their training around 6-8 months old. It could also be due to an urinary tract infection. I would first have her urine checked to ensure everything is normal. If so, I would take out all blankets. Sometimes they will relearn how to hold it if there isn't anything in there to soak up their urine. I had to do this with one of my own dogs and it worked after a few days. Just be sure to keep a strict routine and also don't let her drink a lot of water right before she gets in the crate in the morning. Also, do not leave water in the crate with her. It's possible Kiara may not be getting enough time outside to go potty. Even if she goes once and then comes back in, her bladder may not be completely empty. Keeping her outside and letting her go 2-3 times before bringing her back in may help. Other options include keeping her in a gated off area until she is potty trained/proves she isn't going to have an accident, using an enzymatic cleaner on any areas she has an accident to discourage her from going there again, or even using the tether method of attaching her to you by a leash so you can catch her before she has an accident may help. Speaking with a trainer in person, especially if she is terrified of her crate is also a good idea. I see that Mabel is only about three months old - it's completely normal for her to still be having accidents. Remember, she's just a baby. It will take quite a while for her to be reliable in the house. Most dogs are at least 6-8 months old before they can be trusted without supervision in the house. At this age, you should be taking her outside every 20-30 minutes if she is awake and active. Make sure that you go out with her for potty breaks, and reward her with a rest as soon as she potties outside. This will help to ensure that she goes to the bathroom every time you take her out, which will help to keep her bladder empty and prevent accidents. She should also be supervised at all times in the house, and confined to a crate or puppy-proofed room when you're not home or unable to watch her. Sadie is precious. First remember that she is still VERY young. At only 2 months old, there is still several weeks that she needs to learn. I usually expect puppies to sometimes take until they are 5-6 months old to be completely potty trained. If you aren't already, I would crate train her as this seems to be the quickest method. But most importantly be patient with her. Hi there. At 8 weeks old, Mimi is still a tiny baby - puppies have very little bowel or bladder control at this age, so it's normal for her to urinate and defecate frequently at random times throughout the day. You need to take her out every 20-30 minutes at this age, so give her plenty of opportunities to do her business outside. Praise and reward her with a treat each time she goes. Inside, supervise her constantly and take her out immediately if you see any signs that she's thinking about using the bathroom - circling, sniffing the floor intently, etc. Don't scold or punish her for having an accident in the house, as this will only make her afraid to go to the bathroom in front of you - which then makes potty training much harder! She needs time. She is only 3 months and puppies are not trained at 3 months. I would be extremely consistent with the crate. It may seem like it isn't going to work but if given time to work it will. If she does not go when you take her outside (when you crate her) then you put her back in the crate for 20 minutes.
