My dog pees inside soon after being outside. How do I train her?

How can I get my dog to be potty trained because I let her outside for an hour and then I bring her in in 10 minutes later she has a accident

The best way to train her is to not leave her outside. You will need to be with her all the time to watch when she goes and praise and reward her for going.
When you let her out of her crate, take her out to go... when she does reward her. If she does not then she goes back into the kennel for a few minutes and back outside again. It is best to take her out every 30-60 minutes Until she gets the hang of it

The first thing you need to stop doing is any yelling, thrashing or negative behavior. This will create a negative association with going outside to go to the bathroom and this will be counter productive and a bad experience for you both.

Instead train with a potty cue word. Go to the same place every time. Reward her immediately for any behavior in the right direction. This link may help:

Choose one area for her to urinate or defecate outdoors. Take her to the spot before going for a walk and wait. You use a puppy training spray in the area to encourage interest and elimination. These products may be purchased online (www.petco.com) or at your local Petco.
Praise and reward her each time she urinates or defecates in the designated area. You can then go for a walk afterwards. Be patient as you may need to stand in the one spot until she goes.

The first suggestion I’d give you is to have her evaluated by a vet to ensure that there are no medical issues that could be contributing to her difficulties with potty training. It sounds like you’ve tried all the “go-to” suggestions that I would typically give... crates, frequent walks, etc. It concerns me that you said she will just hold it and cry... is she peeing inside without troubles and just cries when she’s outside?
After her health is cleared, you may want to consult a behaviorist or trainer. This is often very worthwhile investment for ongoing behavioral issues.

It's possible Kiara may not be getting enough time outside to go potty. Even if she goes once and then comes back in, her bladder may not be completely empty. Keeping her outside and letting her go 2-3 times before bringing her back in may help. Other options include keeping her in a gated off area until she is potty trained/proves she isn't going to have an accident, using an enzymatic cleaner on any areas she has an accident to discourage her from going there again, or even using the tether method of attaching her to you by a leash so you can catch her before she has an accident may help. My adopted dog refuses to pee outside. How do I house train her?

I recommend crate training. This is usually the easiest way to housebreak a dog. The key is that she must go back in her crate if she does not potty outside. Leave her in the crate for 30 minutes at a time. Then take her back outside for another 15 minutes. If she doesn’t urinate this time, she goes back in the crate. You keep repeating this until she goes outside. Once she urinates outside, then she is free to be in the house. You should carry her each time so she cannot pee on the carpet. My adult dog pees inside. How do I house train them to go outside?

Great question! I can give you the method I recommend for potty training puppies, which should also work with Jojo. Start by keeping her on a regular feeding schedule, and taking away her food between meals. Take her out to potty first thing every morning, and once every hour to couple of hours in the beginning. Always make sure she goes out after meals, first thing when she wakes up from a nap, last thing before bedtime at night, and right before you leave the house. Take her to the same spot each time to go potty. Her scent there will encourage her to go. Stay with her outside each time she goes to potty, at least until she is fully house trained. When she goes outside, praise her and give her a treat. You might want to consider crate training as part of her house training. It allows you to keep an eye on her for signs that she has to go potty, and will teach her to hold it until you put her outdoors. The crate needs to be big enough for her to stand up, turn around, and lie down, but it should not be big enough for her to go potty in. I hope this helps!

Why does my dog pee inside after going out? Is it a tantrum?

Please do not ever, ever rub your dog's nose in his pee or poop. He has no idea what you're doing and why. Also, he does not "throw a temper tantrum." Kids do that; dogs don't. Put him on a leash and take him outside to his designated spot. Do not walk around. Just stand there and repeat "go outside" or a similar phrase. As soon as he starts to go, repeat "go outside" and praise "good dog!" as he goes. When he is finished, or if it appears that he is not going to go, bring him inside but do not remove the leash, even if he has done his business. Attach it to your belt loop and keep him with you. Don’t let him out of your sight! When you see him start to circle or sniff, take him right outdoors again and repeat the process. If he does mess in the house, do not scold him unless you actually catch him in the act. In that case, say "NO!" and take him right outside. Tell him to "go outside" and praise as he finishes. If he does do his business in the house and no one is right there to correct him, he will have no reason to believe that he is doing something wrong. My dog keeps peeing in one spot indoors. Is she really house-trained?

H, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sadly if she is is going in the house she still isn't fully house trained. All rooms with doors should be closed and she needs to be gated to be kept in your site. Or she needs to be leashed to an adult until this behavior has stopped. The area she is soiling needs to be cleaned with an enzymatic pet cleaner, like Nature's Miracle. She needs to be take out frequently and verbally praised, as well as given treats, when she goes outside. Play with her for 5-10 mins. If she doesn't go outside she is crated or leashed to an adult until you take her out again. This training should go on for 3 months and she can have free reign of the house once there are no accidents for those 3 months. You can have her urine checked for crystals or infection by your Vet and consider having her spayed to see if that helps. I wish you the best!

My 6-month-old puppy won't go potty outside. What should I do?

Potty training issues like this can be very frustrating! The key is that you have to be very diligent, and more stubborn than your dog. Unfortunately, when it comes to potty training, going out 3 times a day isn't enough. If there is a way you can take her out more frequently, I would recommend it. Because if she doesn't go when you take her out, but she doesn't have access for another 6 or 8 hours, she is unlikely to hold it that long. You also need to make sure there is nowhere for Cardi to pee inside. This means she either needs to be picked up and carried inside (past where she normally pees), and stay on leash at your side at all times, or in a crate when unsupervised. The crate should be small enough that she can't get away from a pee spot, but big enough that she can stand and turn around. The other big thing is to get rid of the odor of urine inside. This means having the carpets cleaned, and in some cases rip up the carpet and pad underneath. As long as she smells the urine, she will recognize the area as an appropriate place to pee. Once a dog is trained to go inside, it can be a tough process to get them to go outside. The more you can give her opportunity to go outside the better. It might be a process best started over a weekend or a day you can be home. You have to give her frequent chances to do the right thing. Good luck!

My puppy prefers indoor potty pads. How do I train her to go outside?

If you want her to go potty outside only, I would remove the potty pads as this is likely just confusing her. Giving her the option of both may confuse her as to where the appropriate place to go potty is. Instead, taking her out every 1-2 hours, and establishing a routine of going out after eating, drinking, playing, waking up, etc, can help get her used to the fact that outside = go potty time, along with your treats and rewards. If she has an accident inside, moving her outside to let her finish is best, as well as using an enzymatic cleaner to remove any residue and discourage going potty there again.
