Why is my puppy peeing constantly after eating raisins a week ago?

I am sorry to hear about Beaux! It could be that he ingested something high in sodium/salt and this is causing his excessive thirst, but we do worry about things like grapes and raisins causing kidney issues, so if anything of that nature was in the trash I would recommend an exam right away, or if any medications could have been in the trash. If the excessive drinking continues past today, or if he begins vomiting or acting lethargic a visit to the vet today is recommended as we do worry about them developing an obstruction of the intestinal tract if they swallow something that gets stuck, or pancreatitis. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It would be extremely unlikely that the vomiting on Friday is related to raisin ingestion on Monday. It was a very small amount of raisins that Bubba ate. Typically symptoms of raisins intoxication are seen within 2-3 days after ingestion. I suspect Bubba could be vomiting because of upset stomach, gastroenteritis, infection or dietary indiscretion. Shaking is probably also related to vomiting and nausea. You should follow your vet recommendations, offer Bubba small amounts of bland food every few hours and make sure he is drinking water. Typical stomach upset should resolve within 2-3 days.

Maisy may have a urinary tract infection or she may have a congenital defect with in her urinary system (ectopic ureter). Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Puppies do urinate more frequently than adults. If this is a change in urination than it is not normal. If she is having small frequent accidents in the house and going frequently outside with straining and small amount that is not normal. If it is larger amounts in the house if could be a lapse in house training. If the above applies of increased frequency, urgency and straining Gracy may have a UTI. I recommend having her seen by your Vet and bringing a urine sample to have it checked for bacteria. We treat UTIs with antibiotics. I hope this helps and I wish Gracy a speedy recovery!

Some puppies are just fascinated by water and drink constantly regardless of thirst. The 25 ounces is about double what Wallace needs per day, dog’s typically drink 1-2 ounces per pound. You should have him seen by a vet to rule out a UTI, kidney disease, or very rare forms of diabetes. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you have!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The urinary tract symptoms you describe could be due to a urinary tract infection, urinary stones, a tumor, among other possibilities. Keep in mind that this may be unrelated to the crystals and can even be something like urinary incontinence. I would continue monitoring for signs of painful urination or bloody urine. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further diagnostics would include abdominal imaging and lab work. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Lilo is adorable! If a dog ate raisins or grapes and became sick (days later) they can drool because they are nauseous. Raisins and grapes have the potential to cause kidney failure. Kidney failure makes dogs vomit and not eat. The nausea could cause drooling but I don't think you'd see that JUST when they are sleeping and I would also assume you'd see other signs of illness. I think she is probably fine but if you are worried about raisin ingestion then I have to recommend making an appointment with your Vet Friday for blood work. It will give you peace of mind as well.
