Puppy has parvo. What are the chances my unvaccinated dog gets it?

If there is an area that is contaminated, and the sheltie walks through it, it is then on the shelties feet. If you puppy licks or contact something contaminated, then he will be at risk. The best thing to do is keep the sheltie to a limited area in your yard to minimize his risk of touching it, then wiping his feet when he comes in.

I'm sorry to hear that Cooper has parvo! You did the right thing by taking him to the vet as soon as you noticed a problem. I'm glad he's currently hospitalized for treatment. Parvo is a serious illness and there are no guarantees... but in general, older puppies like Cooper tend to fare better than younger pups. Since you were able to get him started on treatment right away, he has a fairly good chance of surviving. I hope he's able to pull through. <3

Poor Noel! If she is in the hospital on IV fluids and supportive care, she will likely do well in my experience, even as she just had surgery. Some cases of Parvovirus are mild and require just a day or so on fluids to recover, and some dogs need to be hospitalized for 1-2 weeks. Hopefully she does great!
