Is it safe to take a puppy outside in a carrier before all shots?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 4 days old

I have a 9 week old Morkie named Piper who recently received her first set of shots on Sunday 9/3. I would like to know would it be okay to bring Piper outside in a carrier.

Hello and thank you for your question on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

It is okay to bring her outside inside a carrier, but she is not yet ready to interact with other dogs or walk around in places where other dogs have been. As long as she is contained in her carrier, that should be okay.

I hope this has helped answer your question! Piper is a very cute little girl.
