My 1-month-old puppy won't eat and seems very sick. What's wrong?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

My puppy is not eating properly as he only ate the chicken leg that we cooked together with the rice and left the rice. We gave him a few bits of dry dog food to see if he will eat the it but he just smell it and turned away from it. He drank the water we gave him and continue to lay on the floor. He look sad and my mother planned to give him antibiotic and see the vet but he only 1 month old and I'm afraid that he got serious health problems.

I am sorry Boba is not feeling well. At that young of an age he most likely needs soften kibble with warm water or you can try can puppy food. Typically dogs are weaned at 5 weeks so 4 weeks might be a little young. i would recommend trying to stay away from people food. If Boba gets use to eating people food he might never want to eat dog food. If he is not acting right or seems sick at this young of an age he really needs to go to a vet. In young dogs parasites, infection and viral disease are all possible and he should really be examined to determine why he is ill. i hope that helps
