My 1-month-old puppy won't eat and seems very sick. What's wrong?

And in terms of the food -- he should be willing to eat wet food, if not dry food, at this age. So if he's not, I would highly recommend a check up with your vet to make sure everything looks ok. He may just need more time to adjust, but with such a young guy, he can get low blood sugar and dehydration very quickly, so it's important to act sooner rather than later.

At 2 months of age, this has me worried that he may be battling an infection such as Parvo virus. He may also be dehydrated if he is weak and is likely in need of fluid therapy for rehydration. I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would have him parvo tested and have his blood tested to see if there are any other abnormalities. Subcutaneous fluids would certainly help him feel better and he may be so dehydrated the IV fluids may be the best option for him. Poor guy! I'm so sorry Laddoo is sick. He looks miserable, and if she's vomiting and not eating you need to take him to a veterinarian. I am so sorry but there isn't anything I can safely advise you to do at home that is going to really help him. Since he is so young, its possible that his blood sugar is low due to not eating and vomiting--you can rub some corn syrup on his gums to see if that helps, and keep water or broth closeby to enourage him to drink. You can use a dropper to get it into his mouth but ONLY if he is agreeable with this and is voluntarily swallowing it--if you force water he may aspirate and develop pneumonia. I wish there was more I could offer for you to try at home, but you really need to take him to a vet.

Poor Blue! Small breed young puppies are delicate and they are extremely prone to low blood sugar if they don’t eat well. This condition can be fatal. There are many causes for vomiting including worms, change in diet, bacteria over growth and Parvo. I recommend to have Blue seen today by his veterinarian. It’s very important to get these little puppies eating and not vomiting to avoid low blood sugar. The doctor will need to run some tests to determine the cause. Offer him boiled white meat chicken and boiled white rice. This is a bland diet which can help to settle his stomach. Smaller, more frequent meals are better than two large ones. Causes of decreased appetite and diarrhea in a puppy is: intestinal parasites, viral and bacterial infection, food allergy/intolerance, ate something gross, toxin ingestion. Koffee is very young and at 4 weeks of age it is a critical time when sick. Puppies can deteriorate quickly due to dehydration and low blood sugar. Since he is likely unvaccinated and not dewormed, parvo virus and intestinal parasites are high on the list. I recommend taking Koffee to the Vet today. He may have a respiratory infection that requires an oral antibiotic for treatment.
