My newborn puppy is making strange noises and won't eat. Is he sick?

Seeing that your puppy is quite young, it is possible that he is dealing with some infectious disease such as Parvo or Distemper. I would have him examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. He may be dehydrated and have low blood sugar if he has not been eating or drinking. The sooner he is seen by a vet the better. I hope this helps and that Jack gets better soon! I am worried about a respiratory infection / possible pneumonia. This needs to be addressed sooner rather than later so that antibiotic therapy can begin right away. Puppies need to feed approximately ever 2 hours when they are first born; if they don't, they can become dehydrated and also get dangerously low blood sugar levels. If the puppy is not feeding well and seems to not be thriving, I recommend bringing the puppy to your local veterinarian as soon as you can. Puppies can rapidly decompensate and even pass on their own when they aren't thriving. Bottle feeding is not the safest option for feeding puppies, as they can accidentally aspirate the milk into their lungs and develop fatal pneumonia. The safest way to feed newborn puppies is tube feeding, where you pass a feeding tube down into their stomach and directly deliver the food. This should be demonstrated by a veterinarian so you can do it safely. I hope this is helpful!

Decreased appetite is concerning in a puppy because of the potential very serious gastrointestinal infections such as parvovirus that they can get. Monitor him closely for progression of his already decreased appetite, nausea (which may manifest as drooling, decreased appetite and lip smacking), vomiting, severe lethargy and/or diarrhea. If any of these signs are observed, have him evaluated right away. I think that if he is otherwise doing fine, then it is ok to monitor him for now. If he has not improved by tomorrow, then have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Make sure that he is drinking water to avoid dehydration. Good luck! It sounds like he may have sustained a jaw injury. Did he have any trauma that you know of? The other possibility is that he may be coming down with a virus.
