Puppies licking Revolution: How long to separate after applying?

Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 1 day old | 10 lbs

I have two little puppies 7 and 8 months old, I want to use Revolution on them and I do not know if I use revolution on one of them the other one can lick it off, because they play together all the time. what can I do? Separate them or do something else, if separate them for how long? I know Revolution is absorbed in two hours after application for how long do I have to separate them or I have to do something else, I am afraid one of them can get poisoned by licking Revolution off another.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Licking and swallowing Revolution can produce serious side effects therefore you should separate Nelson and Oscar until the skin is completely dry. It normally takes 2-3 hrs for Revolution to be fully absorbed by the skin so there is not need to separate them for longer than that.

Most topical products contain a "bittering" agent to make the liquid taste bitter and prevent it from being ingested. The problem with this is that the kittens may drool and foam at the mouth if they lick the product off each other. Colby should be fine, especially since you washed it off quickly. I would probably wait two weeks to apply his Revolution. Watch him for any side effects like neurological issues, vomiting or seizures just in case. I hope this helps.

Revolution flea meds: Do I rub it in? Will licking make them sick?

You part the hair between the shoulder blades and squeeze the content of the little tube onto the skin that is showing. Do not rub it in. If you put it into the proper place Lassie will not be able to reach it and lick the area. Should she be a contortion artist and reach the area anyway, you can put a t-shirt on her for a few hours to keep her from licking. It will not make them sick if they get some of the medication in their mouth, but we want it to work in the skin and not in the gut.

My puppy has mites: How long to confine & can other dogs get them?

She is probably fine to roam around the apartment after confining her for about 72 hours of the Revolution application. I would recommend you continue with Revolution dosing every 3 weeks for a few more treatments. These mites are very contagious to other dogs but since she has been treated, the house has been treated and the other dogs are on prevention they will probably not contract the mites.

My dog moved during Revolution. Is it safe to give another dose?

I would not give him another dose so quickly, since most of it is on him, just not in the location you were aiming for. You can however, safely repeat the Revolution in 2 weeks time, to ensure he is fully covered and protected. If you do happen to notice any fleas in the meantime, you can safely give him a Capstar tablet for emergency flea relief, which can be found at your local pet store. My cat licked Revolution flea medicine. Is it safe and effective?

Not a good idea. Try putting a t-shirt on her for an hour or so until the skin absorbed most. Or you can put an e-collar on her for a little while, if you have one. I cannot tell you if it still will work when it is ingested, but since it is an avermectin it may. Watch for fleas. If fleas show up much earlier than the time it is supposed to last then it is not working. You can repeat the application about 2 weeks from now, if needed. She should be ok even if she ingests it.

Is it safe to give my dog Revolution and Bravecto at the same time?

Hello. I would err on the side of safety & separate these products by two weeks. Some dogs have a gene mutation called MDR1 that can cause a problem if more than 1 medication is administered too close together.
