Dog got cat flea meds. Side effects? When to reapply Revolution?

I would not give him another dose so quickly, since most of it is on him, just not in the location you were aiming for. You can however, safely repeat the Revolution in 2 weeks time, to ensure he is fully covered and protected. If you do happen to notice any fleas in the meantime, you can safely give him a Capstar tablet for emergency flea relief, which can be found at your local pet store. I can understand your concern here. It is likely going to still be effective b/c it will soak down to his actual skin. Plus there is a range for this product so even if most gets on the haircoat, it is usually going to still be effective. Worst case scenario is that it will lose some of its effectiveness around week 2-3 at which point you can safely apply an additional dosage. Theoretically you can give him a bath now, as the Revolution will have entered his skin. However unless your cat fell into something stinky, oily or walked through herbicide or similar, there is no need to wash a cat.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Revolution can be applied every 4 weeks. There is also Bravecto which is a topical that lasts 3 months. The Seresto collar lasts 8 months and comfortis is a monthly pill. For the last 2 there is no application error which is nice. Otherwise, part the fur to the skin and apply the contents of the Revolution to that spot and then put the hair back. It is normal for some of the liquid to go down over the hair. Maybe try the base of her skull or shoulder blade area so it doesn't go down the sides. I hope this helps!

Great question! According to the package insert for Advantage 2, you can safely reapply once every two weeks, so it would be fine to give them the Revolution now. You can also give them Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and is safe to give with the Revolution. Don't forget you will need to disinfect the environment as well. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps!

You were very smart to wash the medication off Cookie. If you did not use dish soap, I would recommend to rewash the area using dish soap as it is very good at stripping the coat. While I cannot be 100% positive that everything is ok (as I cannot physically examine her), it's generally a good sign that she has calmed down and is acting more normal. You have two options, take her into the veterinarian or monitor her. If you want to be as safe as possible, you could get her into the veterinarian tonight for an examine as they would be the best ones to determine if there are any neurologic abnormalities or any other causes of concern. If you choose to monitor her, you need to watch her closely for increased respirations, open mouth breathing (panting like a dog would), stupor, dizziness, trouble walking, seizures, hyper salivating or other abnormalities that involve her central nervous system. If Cookie displays any of the above abnormalities, I would recommend to take her straight away to the veterinarian. Make sure that she is eating and drinking. When in doubt, take her in as its better to be safe than sorry. Go with your gut. I would not recommend to use this product again on her to be safe. Although reactions can occur with any product, I think Revolution is generally well tolerated and I routinely recommend it. You may also talk to your regular veterinarian about appropriate products to use in your area if you have specific risks like ticks. I noticed that you listed her weight as 4lbs (which would be very small for an 8month old cat) and the product is labeled for 5lbs.
