Puppy jaw clicking, blood on toy, excessive chewing. What's wrong?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Male | 4 months and 27 days old

Earlier today we found a bit of blood on our puppy's toy - we tried to check his mouth to see if there was anything in it. Ever since his jaw has been clicking only on the left side, and it seems to be really irritating him. We can feel a slight click when we hold near his jaw on that side too. He is now desperate to bite anything and everything (which puppies do, but he is doing it more than usual), should we be worried?

It’s possible that he lost a baby tooth which causes the blood on his toy. It could also be the cause for the sudden increase in chewing. As far as the clicking, I am not sure what this could be. It could be his jaw or a baby tooth hung up somewhere. If it is continuing to do this, I would have your vet take a look at him to make sure everything looks okay. i hope this helps!
