Dog chewing air for 2 days, eating fine. Is it a loose tooth?

It’s possible that he lost a baby tooth which causes the blood on his toy. It could also be the cause for the sudden increase in chewing. As far as the clicking, I am not sure what this could be. It could be his jaw or a baby tooth hung up somewhere. If it is continuing to do this, I would have your vet take a look at him to make sure everything looks okay. i hope this helps!

However, if they are loose that is usually indicative of an underlying dental issue so I would recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If she has a tooth hanging out, it's not necessarily an emergency, but I would recommend taking her to vet in the morning. If it's a baby tooth, it is usually not a problem since they will fall out eventually. If it's an adult tooth that is hanging, she will likely need to be put under anesthesia to have it extracted as these broken adult teeth are very painful and prone to infection.

It looks like he chewed something hard enough to loosen them or injured them otherwise. Maybe he was chewing something, got his teeth caught, panicked, and tore loose. From his expression he doesn't seem to be in any pain but I would call your vet and describe the problem and see if they recommend coming in. I feel this would probably heal okay on its own, but it's best to check with your vet and get their opinion.

I'm sorry to hear that! If its a large cheek tooth, or a canine tooth, try to get her in sooner than Saturday if at all possible. If its an incisor (one of the small teeth in the front) its probably fine to wait that long. In the meantime, offer her soft food, or moisten her dry food with water or chicken broth. You can use a dog oral rinse if you want to be proactive about it, but I don't think its entirely necessary. Whether or not specific treatment will be needed depends on what tooth it was and the extent of damage at the gumline. If there is a concern that the root fractured, or if the defect is quite large, surgery may be needed. If she seems to be painful or isn't eating anything, take her in as soon as you can. I'm so sorry that Smokey's teeth seem to be causing him some discomfort. Based on his age, however, this may be completely normal. It is common for dogs to loose their baby canine teeth around 5-6 months, so it sounds like he is right on schedule for having that tooth fall out. You can let him chew on a cold washcloth to see if that helps give him some comfort. You can also soften his food with warm water if he seems reluctant to eat because of his baby teeth. That being said, if it is his adult tooth that is loose, he needs to be seen by your vet as soon as possible. Also, if the baby tooth that is loose is at all discolored or broken, I would take him to your vet as well as it could be infected and could cause damage to the adult tooth. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Lucky! If he has a visibly loose tooth and he is rubbing that side of his face it is very possible that he is in pain. But he also could have a skin infection or is experiencing an allergic reaction and him attacking that side of his face has nothing to do with the tooth. I think it is best to have him examined by your Vet. Have the raw skin addressed, his mouth evaluated and set up a dental procedure. When he is under anesthesia they can evaluated his gums and all his teeth and remove all that are infected. I hope this helps and I wish Lucky the very best!
