My corgi puppies are always hungry and sleeping. Is this normal?

It sounds like you are doing just fine. Dogs, especially corgis, need to be kept lean so it's good that you are being vigilant. Dogs are never too thin unless you can see all their ribs. I recommend to feed all dogs twice a day. It helps to keep the metabolism running and can decrease risk for stomach torsion and bloat. Adult dogs can be fed once a day but most prefer two smaller feedings. Puppies should eat twice a day because they are still developing and have faster metabolism than adults. This is normal, and I would be thankful that she does not seem to have separation anxiety or destructive tendencies when left alone. You sound like an an extremely caring and attentive owner as well. At 3 months of age she should still be fed 3 times a day and/or have food available for her all day to prevent hypoglycemia or low blood sugar which can happen fairly easily with small breed puppies. This will depend on his activity level, weight and BCS (body condition score). He can likely eat anywhere from 1/2 cup to 1 cup daily, divided into several meals. Since dogs thrive on routine, feed him at the same time(s) every day. Prepare his food and leave it down for 20 minutes before picking it up whether he has eaten or not. Repeat this at the next mealtime. Adjust the amount of food, up or down, based on his appetite and BCS. Your veterinarian can show you how to assess Leonard's body condition score. You can use the amount of food recommended on the bag as a starting point. If he is active or losing weight, increase the amount of food offered. Likewise, decrease it if he is leaving it or gaining too much weight.

I agree with you. She is very underweight. This is very abnormal. I strongly recommend you get her to a vet for an exam. Hopefully this problem is due to something easy like worms but I am very worried it is more serious like an underlying congenital problem with her liver and/or kidneys. Please, get her to a vet. This is not a simple instance of her just needing to eat more or eat supplements. Hope this helps. In terms of the appetite, this is sometimes not uncommon in puppies when they are in their new environment. I recommend that you continue to monitor him for now, especially if you just got him. If these symptoms of not eating well and sleeping a large portion of the day do not improve, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment. Aw they are so cute! Growing and being protective over food is a natural and expected behavior for dogs so there's no real way to "train away" the behavior. I recommend feeding them in separate rooms and removing the food bowls before they are allowed to interact to avoid any fighting or injuries. You can also get an Adaptil diffuser for the household which may reduce some overall stress. Most importantly, however, is keeping everyone safe by providing separate feeding areas, separate water bowls, and not allowing your dogs to interact around food.
