How much homemade chicken, rice, veggies for my 4-month-old pup?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | 4 months old | 57 lbs

What is a proper homemade diet? I live in India and have the availability of fresh chicken, rice and vegetables. My vet adviced to feed her dry food twice a day and homemade food once. My pup is 4 months old now. What quantity per serving would be appropriate for her? And how much chicken and how much rice and vegetables would fit her diet?

Equal parts of chicken, rice and vegetables would constitute a complete meal for your pup. Any additional nutrients she requires will come from the dry dog food you are feeding her. Ghontu should be getting about 4 cups of food per day, so if you are feeding her 3 meals per day, each meal should be about 1 to 1 1/2 cups in size.
