How much chicken and rice for a 3-month-old puppy with tummy issues?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 21 days old | 30 lbs

I’m feeding my 3 month old boxer chicken and white rice to help with his tummy issues. He is 25lbs I feed him 1 cup of rice with 1 cup of boiled bland chicken. He gets fed 3 times daily. Is that too much for his age and weight or do I need to give him a little less pet meal? I don’t know the recommended amount of chicken and rice that I should be giving him.

Hi there. I calculate Diesel’s
Caloric need at about 1300 calories per day. On average a cup of white rice is about 200 calories and a cup of boiled chicken breast is around 200 calories as well, so if he is getting 3 cups of each a day that is about 1200 calories, so he needs just a bit more. Also this diet should only be used for a week or so as it is not nutritionally complete. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
