Why did my 4-month-old puppy get hives after being left alone?

They may resolve on their own in a few hours. If Blue is itchy, contact your veterinarian and discuss antihistamine use. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poo Chevy! It is likely that the bumps are hives and Chevy is suffering from an allergic reaction. Sometime we never know the inciting cause but insects or environmental allergens are the most common, unless he is receiving medications or was recently vaccinated (in the last 24 hours). The standard treatment for hives is benadryl and steroids. Ideally you should have him seen by your Vet. If this was an allergic reaction it may take a bit longer to get better. I would give this another 48 hours. These do look like hives, which are usually a sign of an allergic reaction. An allergic reaction can occur secondary to a number of different triggers and often the inciting cause is never identified. Allergic reactions are considered an emergency and require prompt treatment with antihistamines and often corticosteroids, so I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian. I am not sure how to link that with the recent noises in Lilly's stomach and the two problems may not be related.

I hate to hear that Dozer broke out in hives. I hope he has recovered. If he has not, I recommend to call his vet who may recommend to see him or may give you a dose of antihistamines to give him. Many times you will never know what caused the hives. Spider bites or ant bites are usually on the list. Spiders do live in the house all year round and can survive outside in surprisingly cool weather. At this point, focus on making sure his hives resolve.
