My dog gets hives after playing with puppy. Is it from bites or stress?

If this does not resolve shortly, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian for treatment of an allergic reaction. This is usually treated with an anti-histamine medication and steroids. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. This may also be mange and usually this is differentiated on a physical exam and basic cytology. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

Hi there, These look very similar in appearance to black fly bites, which look very dramatic but are truly benign. These are often worst in Spring and Fall seasons. If Pesci is allergic, you would see: facial swelling, full body hives, and severe vomit or diarrhea. This would be a sign he needs emergency medical care. What you are describing sounds as if Winnie may be dealing with a skin infection or skin allergy. I would start using the below recommended products and see if this helps. If the behavior continues and the bumps do not go away, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It may be an [allergic reaction](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/hypersensitivity-reactions-in-cats-and/) from getting bitten or stung by something, or coming in contact with something he is sensitive to. Your vet can recommend a dose of Benadryl, which is an antihistamine. It's not legal for me to recommend specific doses since I haven't examined Boau. If the hives don't get better, then I would take him to a vet.
