My puppy is gassy. What foods or products can help her feel better?

If this is the only sign you could try changing to a highly digestible diet (like Hill’s i/d or Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat) as long as she doesn’t have any food intolerances or diseases requiring a therapeutic diet. Hi there. I suggest you use a probiotic for Bentley. Fortiflora is my favorite but you can use any probiotic made for dogs (no human products or dairy). I would give it daily for one month to see if there are any changes. The probiotic adds "good bacteria" to his intestinal tract that may quiet the gas. Flatulence in dogs is most often caused by the food the dog eats. It is not something dangerous, it just means that your dog has intestinal bacteria that enjoy this food and make a lot of smelly gas. You may want to change the brand of complete puppy food for small dogs. Transition slowly over a full week. Should your puppy have diarrhea or appear ill, take it to your veterinarian for an exams.

Poor Cabella! You could try feeding her a bland diet of plain boiled chicken and rice for the next few days to help settle her stomach. If she hasn't been dewormed recently, I would also suggest doing this as intestinal parasites are a very common cause of a bloated belly and excessive gas or loose stools in a puppy this age - you can get a broad-spectrum dewormer labeled for use in dogs, such as Strongid or Panacur, at most pet stores. Follow directions on the package label for dosing, based on Cabella's weight. If these things don't help, or if she develops any other symptoms such as vomiting, acting lethargic, or not wanting to eat, I'm afraid that she will really need to see a vet as these can be signs of a more serious problem. If negative, I would recommend changing her diet to something less rich. In the US, I recommend Science Diet or Purina One Smartblend. The most common reasons are bacterial imbalance issues, a poor response to the fiber in the diet or parasites. You may try switching the food. I recommend Royal Canin because it has a great fiber blend. You can start them on a probiotic - Purina FortiFlora is a great one.
