My dog has constant, foul-smelling gas. Diet changes didn't help!

If he is a young dog it is possible that he has a mild food allergy or an easily upset stomach (sometimes this is irritable bowl syndrome). Typically strong smelling gas in from the diet. I think slowly switching Ziggys food to maybe a different protein source of purina would help calm down or stop the gas. However, if you want to try an over the counter probiotic every day in the food and see if helping the good bacteria grow improved the gas. Do not forget to have a fecal checked for parasites just incase! hope that helps

By far the most common cause of too much gas in a dog is due to dietary indiscretion or difficulty in the digestion of its current diet. I would recommend gradually changing Elmo's food to something different over the course of About a Week. You can also use human products such as Gas-X two help reduce the amount of flatulence that Elmo is having. Gas-X is not a drug that is labeled for dogs and cats so there is no agreed-upon dose. I would suggest doing some reading online to find the dose that you are most comfortable administering. Other less common causes of increased flatulence would include more serious diseases such as gastrointestinal infectious or inflammatory process, liver disease, or pancreatitis. Hope this helps!

It's possible something in the diet is not setting well with her. It's also possible there is a bacterial imbalance, parasites or the wrong kind of fiber. Also, home made diets are generally difficult to balance which can lead to problems over time. For the best nutrition, I recommend to work with a veterinary nutritionist who can formula a good diet. I also recommend to rule out parasites by having Luna's stool checked. A probiotic may help. Switching her diet to a high quality, commercial diet that has all the required nutrients and required fiber may help too. I recommend Royal Canin. Best of luck.

Maybe Zuma ate something outside or someone gave him some human food causing the gas. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If this does not help with the gas, have him seen by a vet.

I am so sorry to hear that Benji is experiencing an increase in flatulance, as I am sure this is unpleasant for you. With no other clinical signs present at the moment, I would suggest that Benji has eaten something that doesn't agree with him. Perhaps a days worth of bland meals to help his intestines recover would be helpful. If this is the only sign you could try changing to a highly digestible diet (like Hill’s i/d or Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat) as long as she doesn’t have any food intolerances or diseases requiring a therapeutic diet.
