When should I take my new puppy for his first shots and boosters?

Booster vaccines for puppies should be given 3-4 weeks apart so his vaccine booster can be given anywhere from July 6 to the 13th. So, I think you are fine taking him 5 days from now. Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I recommend contacting a local veterinarian in your area to have Venom seen for a "new puppy" appointment. At this appointment, the veterinarian will perform an exam, and can make recommendations for first vaccines, flea, tick and heartworm preventatives, as well as appropriate diet and socialization. Dogs require both "distemper" (DAPP) vaccines as well as rabies vaccines. These are the two core vaccines for dogs. These need to be boostered (given again) in 3-4 weeks following the first shot. There are other vaccines such as lyme and leptospirosis that can be considered depending on Venom's potential exposure. I hope this is helpful!

Simba will likely need booster vaccines 3-4 weeks from when he got the last set of vaccines. In the meantime, take care to keep him away from any unvaccinated dogs, and away from places like dog parks (where unvaccinated dogs may go) until he has completed his series of puppy vaccinations. The frequency of the the boosters depend on their risk. It's best to have a vet evaluate him in the next few days. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. 2 weeks is really too soon for the next vaccine. 3 weeks is early but is acceptable if you have to, 4 weeks is ideal. Longer than 4 weeks you start to run the risk of the whole set not working. I hope that answers your question, best of luck with Tuco.
