My 7-week-old puppy got a combo shot at 5 weeks. When's his next?

Booster vaccines for puppies should be given 3-4 weeks apart so his vaccine booster can be given anywhere from July 6 to the 13th. So, I think you are fine taking him 5 days from now. First of all, Dodger is adorable! As far as boostering his vaccines, it is recommended that the DAPP (distemper-adenovirus-parvovirus-parainfluenza) vaccine is given every 3-4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age. If Dodger receives his first DAPP vaccine at 8 weeks of age, he could receive 3 boosters (at 8, 12, and 16 weeks) or 4 boosters (at 8, 11, 14, and 17 weeks) depending upon how you schedule his booster appointments. There is no right or wrong way to handle his boosters as long as he receives them until at least 16 weeks of age since his mom's antibodies will wear off sometime before the 16 week mark. Puppies need a series of DA2PP (also called DHPP, combo boosters or Distemper/Parvo) vaccinations every 2-4 weeks until they reach at least 16 weeks of age (but up to 18-20 weeks in some cases). Lepto is an optional vaccination that does need to be boostered once. Bordatella is an optional vaccination as well. What your veterinarian is recommending appears to be the appropriate boosters of the vaccines that Toffee previously received. His next vaccines would typically be given 3-4 weeks later, so he's a little overdue. You should call your vet to schedule his next appointment right away. Hope this helps! If Bolt had his first vaccination over 4 weeks ago, you will need to re-start his vaccination program. So, the first vaccination typically contains 3-5 diseases (parvovirosis, distemper, infectious hepatitis and canine influenza and leptospirosis). The same vaccine is repeated 2-4 weeks later. After that, booster is given once a year. Finally, rabies is vaccinated depending on the current legal requirements.

Puppies typically get three vaccines starting at 6-8 weeks of age. Starting at 6 weeks is better than starting at eight. The boosters are 2-4 weeks apart depending on their risk. High risk puppies (in contact with a lot of dogs, or infected dogs) should get the vaccine every two weeks.
