My puppy fell from a height. What signs of injury should I watch for?

So I would watch for limping, stiffness or lethargy. But I would be surprised if she shows any symptoms. Good luck!

I would suggest to monitor him closely for the next 48 hours and record any abnormal sign you may notice. I would especially concern (so that would require an immediate check up) if you notice signs like lethargy, inappetence, vomiting or abnormal behaviour. Poor Winston! Given that he's walking fine, eating, and playing, I wouldn't rush him into a vet right away. There is a chance he could have suffering from some internal injuries from the fall, and I would monitor him for now. If he starts limping, stops eating, vomits, becomes very lethargic, or have any other changes in behavior from the normal, I would have him seen by a vet immediately.

I always advise that if an abnormal sign or behavior persists, worsens or other signs develop to always have your pet evaluated by your veterinarian right away. The fall may have caused some soft tissue/bone injuries or even internal injuries that are causing her problems. Also, she could be suffering from something unrelated to the fall. Your vet can examine her after gathering a history and then advise you on diagnostics/treatment. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests and x-rays. Good luck

If Chiquita seems to be fine then I would not be overly worried. If she does anything abnormal like not eating, limping, is lethargic, etc then you should get her to the vet right away. Sorry that no one responded to you sooner but please remember that this is not an emergency service. If you have what you think may be an emergency always call your local ER clinic for advice. Poor Naila! I'm glad to hear that she is playing and active after the fall. Fortunately, falling from the couch is a relatively short distance. At this point, since Naila is active with no signs of pain or injury, there is nothing you need to do. However, closely watch her over the next day or so to make sure she continues moving around normally, acting normally, and is eating and drinking appropriately. If you observe any changes, she should see a vet for an exam. I hope that all goes well!

Hi Hillary! I'm sorry that Gemma isn't doing well at the moment. It could be that she injured herself falling, and is still painful when she gets up. Because she isn't actively limping at the moment, you can try resting her at home to see if that helps. I recommend resting her for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she's done. If she still appears painful after this time, then I would take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can prescribe safe pain medications for Gemma. I hope this helps!
