My puppy fell and hit her head. Can I just monitor her at home?

I always advise that if an abnormal sign or behavior persists, worsens or other signs develop to always have your pet evaluated by your veterinarian right away. The fall may have caused some soft tissue/bone injuries or even internal injuries that are causing her problems. Also, she could be suffering from something unrelated to the fall. Your vet can examine her after gathering a history and then advise you on diagnostics/treatment. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests and x-rays. Good luck

Poor Sophie. I would monitor her and if she continue to be sleepy I would have her checked by your vet. Try to offer her a bit of food or her favorite toy and observe her reaction, check if she has balance, if she has appetite, if her attention level is the same compared to other days. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor baby!! I think if he is acting fine now he will continue to be fine! Just watch him closely for the next 24 hours. Things to be concern about are crying in pain, excessive tiredness, not wanting to eat, etc. I wish you the best!

If she seems to be sleepy but you are able to wake her up, and if she seems to be breathing normally and walking without pain, then I think it is fine to monitor her at home. If you see any external signs of trauma like bleeding or swelling, or if she is so sleepy you can't get her up then I'd recommend seeing your vet.

She’s adorable! Shivering can be a sign of discomfort. She will probably be sore and bruised from the fall so I’m not overly concerned about that. You may want to wake her to make sure she’s acting normal, and I would give her something to eat to make sure she’s able to eat normally. Luckily puppies are very resilient and usually heal quickly from minor injuries. Please take her in right away for treatment if she’s unable to eat, the bump enlarges, or she doesn’t act normally.
