Is it safe to feed my 3-month-old puppy dry food and cooked meat?

Congratulations on adding the puppies to your family! The main food for the puppies should be an AAFCO certified puppy food. These diets are fortified and so they contain to proper amounts of Calcium, Phosphorus, protein and other essential components for proper growth and development. I recommend to look for well known brands with good reputations like Royal Canin, Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Nutro or Purina. Yes you can as long as it is a food made for puppies. You should soften it a bit first by soaking it with some water or chicken broth for 10 minutes before feeding. Do this until he is comfortable chewing the hard pieces.

I recommend you feed dry food that is made for xtra small dogs like this one from Royal Canin. Yes, you can mix some canned food into it as well. It is best to feed multiple small meals per days with these little micro/mini breeds as they tend to get low blood sugar if they go too long between meals. Small meals 3-4 times per day is best - mostly dry food and just a touch of the wet food. Do this until about 6 months of age then you can go to feeding twice per day. You could add some meat or chicken to your puppies dog food but your puppy needs to have some dog food because it is nutritionally balanced for a puppy. Feeding just meat/ chicken and rice is not recommended because your puppy would not be getting the proper nutrition. Yes it is okay to give a cold meal to a new puppy. I would recommend trying to slowly remove the human food and increase the kibble. At such a young age bongo can remember the human food and feeding him this type of food could make his very stubborn as he ages with his eating. Hope that helps

I can certainly understand being concerned about your puppy not eating enough. It's really not the best for for your puppy, as it's not formulated to meet her nutritional needs. It's not something that is recommended to give to a puppy on a regular basis, usually only when the animal is sick. In addition, there may be ingredients in the baby food that is not safe for her to ingest. It could be that she isn't used to dry dog food, and you can try making a puppy mush for her to see if that helps. I would soak a high quality puppy formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with puppy formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry puppy food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the dry puppy food only. If she still doesn't want to eat much, then I would have her seen before the 15th.
