My puppy has diarrhea after eating expired food. What should I do?

You can consider stopping both foods and feeding boiled skinless chicken or hamburger with plain rice. The addition of a probiotic like Fortiflora would also help regulate any disruptions to the GI tract. After a few days, slowly resume whatever diet you intend on feeding regularly. If diarrhea persists in spite of this, the addition of an anti-diarrheal and/or anti-inflammatory drug may be required.

This is not uncommon following new and rich foods and generally will settle down within 3-5days. A probiotic/fiber supplement such as fortiflora alongside a bland diet may help rebalance the gut and monitor closely for any persistent vomiting which may indicate the need for a vet visit and additional treatment

If she is tired or unwell then yes she should be seen by your vet. Otherwise, a bland diet such as boiled skinless chicken and rice or an intestinal canned diet with additional probiotics such as fortiflora or canikur can help the gut to rebalance and repair. Ensure she is up to date with deworming treatments also as intestinal parasites can contribute to diarrhea and colitis

It is a good sign that she improved with a bland diet, I recommend returning to chicken and rice with a probiotic such as fortiflora for 48 hours then slowly adding a sensitive puppy food (royal canin gastrointestinal junior or calibra puppy is my preferred option). Add kibble at no more than 20% every 2 days to allow the gut to adjust

Milo is ridiculously cute!! My main concern is that he start drinking. You can offer water with a little chicken broth in it. (But always make sure there is fresh water too.) Start a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora. Try a bland diet (half plain boiled/canned chicken half plain cooked white rice) for a few days and I expect the diarrhea to improve after 1-3 days. (Then transition back to her regular diet slowly over 3-5 days.) If at ANY time he is lethargic, vomiting, not wanting to eat, or you have other concerns, you need to go to the vet clinic right away to make sure it’s nothing more serious. It could be a results of pregnancy however I would recommend checking for parasites and making sure she is dewormed properly. YOu can try and over the counter probiotic to help firm up the stool with a bland diet for boiled chicken and white rice. However if she is not improving I recommend taking her to a vet for an exam

Yes, I suggest you get him a probiotic to add to the food. Use the probiotic with the chicken and rice (no puppy food) for about 4 days and then go back to trying to transition him back to the puppy food. I like this probiotic. I think it is the best. Feed one packet on the food daily.
