Can 3-month-old puppies get dew claws removed for dog shows?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Hi! I have a 3 months old beagle and I am training him for dog shows but today when I went to a diffirent Vet he said my dog will be disqualified as he has total 20 claws 10 infront and 10 at back so he have dew claws. Please tell me is it a reason of disqualification or can I still get it removed at his age of 3 months.

This will depend on what organization's dog shows you are wanting to participate in, since each one has its own rules and regulations about what is acceptable. But in general, dew claws can be removed if they are a problem - this is very common with show dogs in the United States.
