How many calories should my 4-month-old Boxer puppy eat daily?

Hi, it's hard for me to determine how much food to feed Pearl. Each brand of dog food has different nutritional and calories per cup, so the amount she needs might vary according to which brand you have. Make sure Pearl is fed a high quality food for puppies and look on the bag for feeding guidelines. It usually days X cups per day with a table of different body weights.

The rule of thumb for vigorous exercise in puppies is five minutes per month of age. At four months of age, Diesel should not run more than 20 minutes up to twice a day. If you do run him, then I would cut down on the play time. This is because too much play and exercise can be detrimental to his growth. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Hi there. I calculate Diesel’s Caloric need at about 1300 calories per day. On average a cup of white rice is about 200 calories and a cup of boiled chicken breast is around 200 calories as well, so if he is getting 3 cups of each a day that is about 1200 calories, so he needs just a bit more. I recommend the majority of his diet consists of the Royal Canin as that has the proper balance of vitamins and minerals for a growing dog and the human diet does not. The Royal Canin should have a place on the label for recommended feeding amounts for his age and weight. Kisses to Caster!

I recommend a high quality diet that is hypoallergenic which may help him such as Science Diet z/d or Royal canin ultamino. Both of these are of great quality and also are well-tolerated. If he is 56 pounds like the profile says, he should eat about 1,000 calories per day. That caloric information of the food should be in the back of the bag of the diet you choose. Charlie needs around 300-400 calories per day for his weight and age (considering he is a puppy) so I would adjust the cups per day keeping this in mind. As he continues to get older and his weight increases, I would recommend continuing to follow the instructions on the food package label. Determine how much to feed a puppy can certainly be quite confusing! I'm glad to hear that you are offering Bourbon food four times per day. In another month, you can decrease his feeding to three times a day, and eventually twice per day. The Royal Canin Maxi Starter food is great for growing puppies! By 2 months of age, Bourbon should be able to start chewing through dry kibble, so you can start to wean him off of the water soaked kibble over the next few weeks. Cerelac is not a necessary component of any dog's diet, so I would recommend stopping that and strictly feeding the balanced puppy food. Based upon the feeding guide for your puppy food, Bourbon should eat around 250 - 260 gm per day, meaning that he should eat around 60 - 65 gm per meal.
