How much chicken, fish, and rice should I feed my 8kg dog with IBD?

Hi there. I calculate Diesel’s Caloric need at about 1300 calories per day. On average a cup of white rice is about 200 calories and a cup of boiled chicken breast is around 200 calories as well, so if he is getting 3 cups of each a day that is about 1200 calories, so he needs just a bit more. Keep in mind that it is recommended to give a protein with a carbohydrate such as rice which then would lower the amount of chicken. You can always check the calories in whatever you decide to feed him knowing that it should be about 465 calories. Good luck!

For example, you could consider switching Izzy to a diet of chicken and white rice combined with a dry diet such as Hill's zd which would be good for inflammatory bowel disease. A pet this size should be eating approximately 2-2.5 cups of food a day. That can translate to cooked and chopped chicken as well. Howver the meal needs to be balanced with vegetables. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would feed 2 cups (75% rice to 25% boiled chicken breast or hamburger) per day. Feed the bland diet until 2 normal stools.
