The next steps might be an abdominal ultrasound to evaluate the colon and even endoscopy tonlook for polyps in the rectum or colon and obtain biopsies to rule out inflammatory bowel disease. Streaks of blood in the poop can be due to passing hard stool that irritates the rectum, parasites, bloody anal discharge, irritable bowel disease or a rectal mass. To start I would check a fecal sample for parasites. Then if it continues I would have your veterinarian express Sushi's anal sacs, and perhaps do a rectal palpation to check for polyps or a tumor. If this is due to stress from irritable bowel symdrome they can prescribe medication. It sounds as Albert is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

It is possible, however other issues such as blocked/infected anal glands, parasites, GI irritation, or underlying illness may also cause bloody stool. If it is to the point where you have to wipe Winston and he has blood present with every defecation, it would be best to bring him and a sample of his stool into your vet for further testing.

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear that Lucy has bloody stool! Bright red blood in the stool is an indication of inflammation in the colon wall. She may have eaten something that didn't agree with her, or she may have gotten a bacterial infection of her gut causing the inflammation. I would feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice and see if that clears it up. If she is still having blood in her stool by tomorrow mid day, or if she begins acting sick (not eating, vomiting) I'd have her seen right away. I hope that helps. Blood in the stool like this could be due to a mild gastritis or colitis (inflammation of the gut from eating something that upset it), or could be the beginning of a more severe gut issue. If Harley is still eating/drinking, and playing normally, the just monitor her stools for signs of more blood. If the blood continues, or if the feces starts looking like jam, then have her into a clinic right away. If Harley is quiet, lethargic, weak, not wanting to eat, or seems painful in her stomach, then have her seen by a vet right away. You can also try feeding her a bland diet of boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breast and boiled rice in small frequent meals for the next couple days, provided she is still bright and happy. This diet will clear up most mild gastritis cases without any need for fluids or medications. Best of luck with Harley!

I would have her seen by a vet today for this issue. The vet can diagnose what is causing it and can treat her. I hope this helps!
