It can sometimes be difficult to feel this with a finger during a recital exam. but if it is close enough to the anal opening, it might be accessible. Poor Winston! I can see blood and mucus in his stool. This can be caused by stress, especially if he is an anxious traveler. However, other conditions may also cause this and this episode may just be a coincidence with travel. Conditions such as intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, and foreign bodies may also be to blame. This can be from a mass in the rectum, irritation from pushing out hard stool, or she may have an anal infection causing the bleeding. If this continues I recommend a veterinary exam. They will check the anal sacs and palpate inside the rectum for a mass. Make sure the stool isn’t too firm. Adding fiber to the diet will bulk up the stool and make it easier to pass.
