My 1-month-old puppy bites hands and objects. How can I train him?

It can always be tough with a new puppy. Some chewing is normal with a young puppy however it is important to start trying to control the behavior now. I would recommend when Blue starts to bite to replace it with something he can chew on. Also, I would recommend starting with some basic training. This would be sit, stay and come. That way when Blue starts to bite you he can be re-directed with the commands. I hope that helps

Otis is adorable! I would actually recommend a trainer for him. They will be able to work with you and him to stop this behavior. in the mean time when he starts to nip then I would recommend stopping all play until he has calmed down. Tzipora is sure a cutie! What the behaviorist recommend is withdrawing attention from her when she is biting. Yelp very loud and completely remove yourself from her- even if you have to close a door. We need to get her to know that biting on toys is ok and biting you is not. Try to use toys that you can put peanut butter in that will distract her. I would HIGHLY recommend finding a good trainer in your area. There are lots of trainers, but call your veterinarian to find a good one. A good trainer will help you figure out what is causing the biting and a plan to stop it. The good thing is that you are seeking help early. I know that the puppy stage can be frustrating, but with a good trainer- it will be ok. Once she is learning commands- such as sit. I would recommend trying to stay away from scaring Toffee. I would recommend when Toffee bites to replace th object with a toy he is allowed to chew on. Also I would recommend working on some basic commands like sit, come and stay. That way when he starts to bite you can re direct his attention and tell him to sit. The last option is to just walk away so Toffee knows that biting is not play time. I would start with those steps but you really need to keep it consistent. hope that helps

One recommendation I have for all new puppy owners is to go to a puppy training class. Even if you've raised puppies before it's always a great refresher course for you and Olie has never been to school before. Right now she's probably a little bit too young, you do want to make sure she's had several set of vaccinations and your veterinarian says she is healthy enough to go to class. With Typsy's age she is currently teething. When Typsy bites you I would tell her no and swap your hand out with something she can chew on like a toy. At pet stores or online you can find toys that are great for teething. I would also make sure when playing with her you are not using your hands, instead make sure you are using toys. With training her, if you are looking for potty training tips I would recommend crate training. The crate should be small enough for her to stand up, turn around and lay down. I would take her outside and see if she goes to the bathroom and if she does then keep her out and watch her 100%. When you have to turn your back I recommend putting her back in the crate. If you take her outside and she does not go to the bathroom then I recommend putting her back in the crate. If you find an accident just clean it up and don't say anything. If you catch her in the act then I recommend telling her no and then taking her outside to go to the bathroom and praise her when she goes.
