Is it normal for my puppies to suddenly bark when I come home?

It's normal for puppies this age to be friendly and not bark - if she were barking at people at this young age, I would be very concerned that she would grow up to be fearful and anxious around strangers. She should start to alert bark when she's older, usually around 10-12 months of age.

It's likely this behavior is related to puberty. Sometimes temperament can change. Spaying and neutering may help but training is still needed. I also recommend to work with a trainer. Someone at doggie daycare may be able to help or recommend someone. Sounds like a possible case of the puppy zoomies! This is when a puppy gets very excited, runs around a ton, and may bark or hop at things exciting to them. This is a good opportunity to offer toys such as something stuffed or tuggable to play with to help him get out that energy on objects you don't mind him chewing on, rather than things such as shoes or household items! If he's barking randomly, looking up how to teach "quiet" may be useful. 9 weeks is the perfect age to start some basic training obedience. Often times, teaching things such as "speaking" on command AND "quiet" together can help with barking issues. Searching on YouTube for both should give you some ideas. She is so young I wouldn't expect her to go blind, although it can happen. But because of this symptom I would bring her to a veterinarian to make sure they evaluate her eyes. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

This is just behavioral and can be corrected. I would recommend using a spray bottle filled with water and every time he barks, lightly spritz him in the face while using a command such as "No barking!" If he continues to bark, you can also use what is called a citronella collar, which can be found online quite easily. I hope this helps!
