My 3-month puppy cries when I leave & goes wild when I return. Normal?

Yes. It can be traumatic for young puppies to leave their mom, litter mates, and previous home that they knew. He needs to develop a new bond with you and learn a new home/environment/routine to gain confidence. Keep working with him and with time and becoming older he will learn. Your puppies are still young and are maturing before your very eyes. They are now behaving like dogs. There is no need for concern here. : ) They are likely just happy to see you and now want to express their happiness. As long as they are still eating and drinking normal and not having any diarrhea or vomiting, they are fine medically. Their barking is normal dog behavior for maturing young puppies. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Oh goodness Rocco is cute! Rocco is still very young! He likely misses all his litter mates. Making the crate a good place to be is your best approach. When he is out with you, leave the play pen/crate open so he can walk in and out. Give good treats and toys in the crate with the door opening. Tie the toy or rawhide chew with rope in the crate so he can't take it out to play with or eat. Teach him how to "go to his bed" which will be the crate. When he is tired pick him up and lay him in there. If you have free time snuggle with him. It will take time and like I said at 8 weeks he is very young and this is normal behavior. I hope this helps and good luck!

The crying and whining is normal for her age. She has to learn that no one can be with her all the time and that someone will come back. Make sure she has toys and a comfort bed or blanket to help As far as biting, she is young enough to teach what behavior is good. Whenever she bites stop playing her and tell her no. Ignore her until she settles down and try agin. If she continues then keep stopping until she makes the association. Make sure she has toys that are safe to chew on and bite. When she does wrong give something that is appropriate so she learns. Make sure you reward good behavior with treats and praise socit helps her understand

This is probably a stage little Papi is going through. You could try leaving a shirt or something else with your smell with him when you have to leave. You could also try distracting him with a toy or treat when you need to go. It's great that he likes his bag - you may want to try putting the bag in his play pen so he has a safe, familiar place to rest. As long as you don't make a big deal out of his behavior (and therefore reinforce it) I think Papi will probably stop, although some dogs do become more attached to just one person.

Young puppies like this are often anxious about being left alone, even if they're just in a crate across the room. You can help him learn to enjoy being in his crate by giving him a special long-lasting treat each time you put him in - something like a Kong toy stuffed with peanut butter works very well for many puppies. This will help to keep him busy and encourage him to settle, and will also teach him to associate good things with being in his crate.
