My puppy ate a mouse. Why is she vomiting, has diarrhea, and is tired?

I would recommend Oscar be evaluated by a veterinarian; hat is a large number of times that he has vomited, and with him not feeling well, I would recommend he be seen. There is the possibility that he ate something in addition to the mouse; and if the mouse caused such GI upset, he may need some medications to get his GI system normalized. I would recommend he be evaluated by his veterinarian, have any necessary testing done (xrays, etc) and start any treatment that he may need. Good luck!

You'll want to be sure to keep an eye on Dude. If the vomiting is persistent or you notice and diarrhea or change in behavior, you'll want to visit your local Veterinarian as soon as possible. You can offer him a bland diet of chicken and rice to let the stomach heal in the mean time. Don't forget to call the exterminator! Please keep us in the loop.

I would keep an eye on Abby for signs of any distress or illness such as vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea, etc which would warrant a trip to the ER vet. As mice can also carry parasites, scheduling a vet visit when you can and getting Abby up to date on dewormings, etc can help prevent future illness.

Make sure the ingested animal did not die from rodenticide. If so, it is possible your puppy will suffer secondary exposure and may require veterinary attention. If not, monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or lethargy. See your vet if you notice any of these signs.

She might have a condition called "Parvovirus" which is a very serious virus that affects puppies, and is more likely if Joplin is unvaccinated. The other possible causes in a puppy include an obstruction in her gut (a blockage from a foreign object (ex. ball) that she ate, or an intussusception (the intestines telescoping in on each other). Also, depending on her age, pyometra is possible along with many other conditions. With what you are describing, I am very concerned that she could die without aggressive care. I strongly recommend you get Joplin to a vet right away, and if your vet is closed go to your closest emergency clinic. They will recommend a test of her poop, as well as possible bloodwork and x-rays, and will likely want to keep her in hospital on IV fluids and medications. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Joie! From your pictures Joie seems to be pretty sick. Causes for vomiting and lethargy in a young lab: foreign body ingestion where she ate something that is stuck in her stomach or intestines, a virus like Parvo virus especially if she is unvaccinated, intestinal parasites, toxins, etc. It is probably best to have her seen as an emergency today. You can try to fast her: no food (and no grass) for 12 hours. Hold on water for 4 hours and if no vomiting offer ice cubes. If she continues to vomit while being fasted she should see a Vet today. If the vomiting subsides then starting tomorrow do "sip and nibble" of water and a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice as small frequent meals. Feed 3 cups total per day. If she restarts vomiting with food then she should see your Vet. Good luck!!

However, in puppies, vomiting can be caused by parasites and dangerous viral infections. I recommend keeping an eye on Ciroc for continued vomiting, loss of energy/appetite, and diarrhea.
