My puppy ate a corroded pipe and is throwing up. What should I do?

He will likely need x-rays to see if the bathroom decor is causing a blockage in his stomach or intestines. If so, he will require surgery to remove it. If Marlow is only just vomiting up the sprinkler line now, it means that it has been sitting in her stomach all along unable to pass through the GI tract to be defecated. Depending on how much she ate, there is potentially more in there. Unless it is possible she could have found some more as recently as today and she was vomiting it up, I would be quite concerned for a foreign body in the stomach. An x-ray plus a barium contrast study would be helpful in mapping out the location of the sprinkler parks to see if surgical removal is going to be needed. Sometimes, depending on their location, the pieces can be removed with a scope instead of actually having to open the dog up. It all depends on their location and the size of the remnants, as well as the number of remnants.

However if she tries to vomit and cannot produce anything, or if she continues to vomit liquids and refuses food, then this is concerning for a potential blockage and she should be taken to your vet right away. It is pretty common for dogs to occasionally vomit if they ate something that didn't agree with their stomach, but we do want to be certain we don't have something more serious going on here. In puppies we especially want to watch vomiting because of a disease called Parvo virus which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and anorexia. This is a serious disease which requires aggressive treatment. Because of this, if your puppy continues to vomit, has dairrhea (especially if it has blood in it), is lethargic or not eating then she should see a vet right away. We would also worry if she ingested a large piece of uncooked potato about a possible obstruction, so this would be another reason to monitor her closely. If she seems to have a normal level of energy, is not having diarrhea and doesn't vomit any more then I would just continue to monitor her.

Hi, yes always take a bulldog to see a vet sooner rather than later. Vomiting in Bulldogs can cause aspiration pneumonia because of the way their airways are . Also some prompt treatment can make vomiting improve rapidly depending on the primary cause. Hope Lola gets better soon !

There currently are several toys on the market which will interact with Luna and release treats, that can be used while you are out.
