Why does my poodle sit sideways? How to tell if it's toy or miniature?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This information is from the AKC (American Kennel Club). Poodle weights- 4-6 pounds (toy) 10-15 pounds (miniature) This question is really hard to answer without watching and tracking Gypsy's growth and without seeing her parents and knowing what their weights were. Toy and mini poodles mature at one year of age so the next 5 1/2 months will answer your question. Her body frame may enlarge or she may just gain a little more weight. It's hard to say. Good luck

The breed standard for a bitch is between 46 and 71 pounds approximately, she sounds quite small. I would check her papers and make sure she is KC registered as a standard poodle. It is very hard to know what size the puppies will reach, so I would only consider buying one if you could accept it possibly being on the small side.

Coco will likely weigh around 55 to 60lbs, her height should be around 23 to 24 inches tall. Of course dogs are not machines, and this is just an average guess at height and weight. There are always exceptions to the norm, ie smaller or taller than the average prediction, weight will depend ,, of course, on muscle mass and fat.

When a standard male poodle is fully grown, they are between 45-70 pounds. At almost seven months of age, Theo should be getting close to 3/4 of his final adult weight. This would be 33-52 pounds in size.

The genetics of these two breed crosses are quite unpredictable, so it's hard to say for sure what to expect as far as size goes. Theoretically, we would expect a miniature goldendoodle to be larger than a toy goldendoodle, but there are no guarantees.

Toy poodles have some minor maintenance requirements for them, but overall they can be a great pet for any level experienced pet owner, especially a beginner as yourself. They typically require special attention to their ears (ear cleaning and hair plucking if applicable) and good at home dental care (brushing teeth at least 2-3 times a week or daily if possible). Thank you for submitting your question regarding Sam. He is likely full grown or very nearly at his age. He may fill out a bit more, but I suspect his weight or measurements will not change much. He can transition to adult food or do so within the next month. I hope this information helps!
