Is Petco's dog wash safe for my unvaccinated 7-week-old puppy?

Thanks for visting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Coco is considered to be fully vaccinated 7 days after her 3rd round of vaccines, which is between 14-16 weeks of age. She currently isn't fully vaccinated, so it is best to wait a bit if possible. I would recommend doing puppy wipes or waterless shampoo until then, if you are not too keen on doing a full on bath right now. This can at least get some of the puppy dirt off until she is ideal age for a grooming appt. Another alternative is to have a mobile groomer do her bath or discuss with the grooming facility to see if they take any extra precautions for puppies that aren't fully vaccinated. Yes you can bathe your pets using a puppy shampoo only. They can regulate their body temperature by week 2. And you should start vaccinating them when they are 6-8 weeks of age, but typically we start at 8 weeks. There isn't a problem bathing a puppy prior to vaccinations, but I would recommend separating them by a few hours. You want to make sure that Oliver's skin and coat is completely dry and that his body temperature is normal before vaccinating him. I hope that was helpful and answered your question. Theoretically you may have endangered him. Practically, however, it is unlikely that he picked up any disease. I do not think it is advisable to bring your dog to a pet store, no matter what vaccination status or age, as you never know whether the dogs brought to the store are all healthy. It would be very easy to pick up kennel cough, a highly contagious upper respiratory disease. You do not have to be paranoid, but caution never hurt.

Unfortunately, Maximus is not fully vaccinated at this point, so he should not be going outside. Depending on your state, he can be fully vaccinated by 12 or 16 weeks. If this was his first round of shots, he will need a booster in 2-4 weeks and then his Rabies vaccine at 12-16 weeks as well as his last booster. Maximus should have minimal contact with other dogs (even where other dogs have gone to the bathroom) as you can’t be sure they are not carrying any of the viruses that Maximus is not vaccinated for that can make him very sick. I know it is difficult to keep a large active puppy inside, but your vet can work with you to have Maximus fully vaccinated in a reasonable amount of time.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! 5 weeks is a bit young to leave her mother but if she is fully weaned it should be ok. We usually do not start vaccines until they are 7 weeks of age. Some breeders will give them a parvo vaccine at under 7 weeks. You should be fine until she gets her first vaccine but people with sick dogs or unvaccinated dogs shouldn't handle her and she needs to be kept away from all dogs. I hope this helps and good luck!

I would wait until at least 10 days after Daviana got her final series of vaccines to make sure she is fully vaccinated. The last serious is usually given between 14-16 weeks of age, so she won't be fully protected until she is a least 16-18 weeks of age.
