Does omeprazole protect my dog's stomach from prednisolone steroids?

Or you can give the prednisone and the granudoxy together and 2 hours later give the maalox. I hope this helps!

It’s safe to use the prednisone with the dexamethasone shot, they are in the same class of steroids. I would wait more like 5-7 days between the last prednisone and the Rimadyl. Longer if Toby is prone to stomach upset or diarrhea. When used closely together, these two classes of medications can cause bleeding stomach ulcers.

There are no drug interactions between omeprazole, carafate and carprofen however, don't give them all together. You would want to give the carprofen either 1 hour prior or 1 hour after giving the others. Carafate and Omeprazole given at the same time as carprofen will inhibit it's absorption. Hope this helps. I am afraid, that is not ok, as giving food (treats) right after administering omeprazole is the same as giving food before administering it. If she likes ice cubes you can give her an ice cube to play with.

If I'm understanding her medication plan correctly, I'm a bit concerned because Metacam and prednisolone should not be given together - this combination of drugs can cause serious side effects such as stomach ulcers and internal bleeding, and I do not know of any veterinarians who would recommend giving both at the same time.
