Is omeprazole a pain reliever for pets, or just for stomach issues?

Poor Gizmo! I do not recommend to make any changes without speaking with your regular veterinarian but I think trying something different is a good idea since Gizmo is still having problems. You may try the Omeprazole if your vet thinks it may help. Best of luck.

Unfortunately, since I have not personally examined Spock, I am legally unable to provide you with precise dosing instructions and must instruct you to follow your vet's prescription. YEs, fewer signs fo nausea/discomfort and less burping wpuld be an indication that the treatment is working. Ensuring he eats slowly by using a slow feeder or scattering his food over a wide tray or plate so he has to work harder for it can also be helpful in improving overall digestion.

Hi, There are no interactions between the two drugs and they are often given together as the omeprazole helps to protect the stomach from potential side effect that can damage the stomach and cause ulcer by steroids. The instruction to take them differ a bit, the omeprazole is to be taken on empty stomach preferably in the morning before the first meal and steroids are to be taken with food or after a meal (full stomach). I am afraid, that is not ok, as giving food (treats) right after administering omeprazole is the same as giving food before administering it. If she likes ice cubes you can give her an ice cube to play with.

While we do not typically recommend Tums for dogs, you can safely give him some Prilosec (omeprazole), to help reduce acid secretion in the stomach and help him feel better. Prilosec generally comes in 20 mg tablets, so he could receive 40 mg orally twice daily. If the clinical signs persist beyond a day or so after trying the Prilosec, I recommend that he be seen by your veterinarian again, as a more serious problem could be present. I'm wondering if you mean omeprazole, as there is no drug that I am aware of called amorazole. Omeprazole is a prescription only medication for dogs, and you would need a prescription from a vet in order to get it, even when ordering it online. While there are online pet pharmacies, prescription meds require the vet sending in a prescription before sending it to you. I would speak to your vet about any medications Tilly may need, and they will prescribe them if necessary and appropriate.
