My dachshund is pacing, crying, uncomfortable. Should I see a vet?

The behavior you are describing makes me think Daisy is probably painful. Oftentimes when dogs are uncomfortable they seek comfort from their owner, will cry out in pain, will tremble or shiver, or be lethargic. In a dachshund I would be concerned about back/spinal pain since they are predisposed to intervertebral disc disease. I would recommend taking Daisy into your vet so she can be checked out and they can figure out exactly what is going on and get her back to herself. Good luck.

In a dachshund the most common reason I would say for this type of behavior is a back problem - he may have a pulled muscle that is hurting him when he turns a certain way. I suggest you have to your vet for an exam. This can be a serious issue in long-backed dogs. Even though it could just be a soft tissue injury (like the pulled muscle) it could even be a worse problem like a problem with one of the discs in between the vertebra or one of the nerves pinched coming off of the spine.

I recommend that you have Sprinkles evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics include radiographs. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least they can prescribe pain control medications to make Sprinkles feel better. In the meantime, reduce her activity as much as possible as that in itself can make a big difference. With such vague signs, there is no way for us to predict online where the source of his discomfort his. I recommend a full physical by your vet to investigate the source of his pain and discomfort and advise on the most appropriate treatment. Keep him warm and well rested and offer pedialyte, fresh water and small meals of warm, bland food until you can arrange an appointment

Poor baby. With that amount of vomiting, I'd recommend a vet visit right away for an exam, x-rays, and possible blood work. It could be something as simple as a intestinal bug, or something much more serious like eating a foreign object. Good luck!

If Jake cannot walk, jump, wag his tag, and cry if you pick him up, then yes he is in a lot of pain. This is very serious, and he should see a vet immediately. Dachshunds are prone to ruptured discs in their back due to their elongated spine, and that could certainly be the cause of his pain. He should be evaluated by a vet immediately, and needs pain medication as well. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can prescribe him safe pain medications. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies.
